Every horse owner has that story. You know, the moment you breathed in the smell of a horse, laced your fingers through long strands of mane and held on while your soul soured with every stride. Even though the memory of that moment may be different for each individual, the emotional impact is the same.
For as long as I can remember my passion has always been horses. Now, years later I have another great passion: education.
The romanticized version of the horse is what we all fall in love with. The reality is horses can be dangerous, and without proper instruction and education, the dream of racing the waves along a beach turns into fear, frustration, and even injury. It also means a lifetime of inconsistent and sometimes abusive homes for the horse.
Fortunately, I can help you realize your dream of having a partner, instead of a pet. My specialty is educating the horse owner who may be new to horses, being reintroduced after years away, or is struggling with fear. After teaching the public for almost 15 years, (ages as young as 70!), I have learned what it takes to keep you safe while providing the horse with an owner who is educated in all aspects of horsemanship including body language, health care, nutritional needs, tack usage and fit , first aid and more!
I believe we are forever students of the horse. So, I am always increasing my knowledge by participating in educational programs, including gaining my certification through the American Registry of Professional Animal Scientists (ARPAS) and becoming a certified equine first-aid instructor through Equi-First Aid, USA.
My pledge to you is to create an environment where learning becomes the side-effect of horse ownership and your horse receives the benefits of a forever home.
